Stockholm adopts film strategy

16 May 2017

The City Council has formally adopted a strategy for Stockholm to become an attractive city for international film productions. The strategy also involves efforts to support both the creative and displaying processes.

– Moving images is on the rise. We consume film today in various forms and through different types of media. And film consumption continues to grow. People love film. It reaches and affects people regardless of age and background. The new Stockholm Film Strategy will provide a framework that embodies our continued work to support both the creation and viewing possibilities of film, says Roger Mogert (s) City Council for Urban and Cultural Affairs in the City of Stockholm.

Briefly, the Stockholm Film Strategy is about simplifying the permit processes as well as promoting the city as film friendly. It covers areas such as supporting the film industry, developing a Green Film certification, creating new venues for showing movies and to develop collaborations and promoting Stockholm as a film destination.
